Boohoo, poor her. Life is not fair, the system is not fair, not just for women, but for men too. Desperate men who break the law get severely punished, so why shouldn’t she?

Public shaming and humiliation are nothing new to men who break the law, even when they are trying to change the system to be fair.

You cannot have the world perfect for everybody. When you give something to someone, you usually take away from someone else.

If life is hard, then you suck it up and do your best. Men are told to “be a man”, or “act like a man”, so if men are supposed to just deal with it, then women should too. Then it would be fair!!!

Thanks Rammya..Just how deeply entrenched is bias against a woman fighting for justice can be gaged even by responses to the post. Cynicism takes over as also mockery and soon everything is reduced to a charade. But I guess one has to do what one has to do and carry on irrespective.

Well done kaveeta! I really applaud you for bringing this to my attention.
What has the plight of women become in a country where once women were considered “goddesses” if you will.

To reply to the comment made by Shaan Khan,
Take a walk in that woman’s shoes before you make such a ignorant and bigot like remark. The reason this woman has been pushed over the edge to show no modesty is because of the indecency of the Indian government as well as the disrespect towards women. Rethink your thoughts prior to making such superficial remarks.
To reply to the comment about filing a case,
Have you ever tried to file a case, as a woman, to the Indian Judicial System? It is very hard, meticulous and arduous. Many times to even have your case be filed, bribes must be given, favors must be done. If our incentive to file a case is so enticing, then walking the street half naked would be a better option, because then you will be heard! How can you even file a case in such a corrupted society, which we call our Justice Department, its a complete paradox.

An old topic! Nonetheless, this was a classic case of a depraved and sadistic woman misusing & exploiting dowry laws to the hilt.

Soon after this incident, her husband and in-laws were found to be innocent, both by police and NCW!

And yet, many months later, there are many amongst you who want to fashionably sympathize with this woman!!!!

Indian dowry laws are:
1. A travesty of justice
2. An insult to common sense
3. A joke on an individual’s natural sense of fairness.

Dowry laws are more abused, than used in this country.

Those who need it, don’t even know about it. Usually these are women from the poorer segments of society.

Well heeled & capable women, with inflated egos & insatiable greed (read alimony/maintenance), are the most prolific abusers of these laws.

Despite this reality, some people actually take time to write farcical blogs as this one. And have hordes of others mindlessly clucking in sympathy.

mr shaan khan….that was a very rude comment.I wish u could understand that the poor lady might have been quite helpless,when her own husband and in laws proved her characterless and no one was paying any heed to her appeals.No one has helped her out,being a woman it might hav been quite difficult for her to do such a thing and she seems to lose her mental stability

Thanks Kaveeta, for being so bold to touch this issue. I read the post and the comments of all. Those who believe that she should not have done this cos of her body fat need to know that it takes guts to show the fat off-if at all she was exposing it. Unfortunately, she was not. Those who believe that she had an ulterior motive of getting her in-laws arrested and humilated should know that the dowry law allows single handed advantage to the daughter-in-law. But we all know, dont we, that every law has its loopholes.
The Saviors and the Worriers for the Indian Family, the Upholders of the Anti-Obscenity Mission - where do you hide when little children, females mostly, are raped brutally and thrown to die? Inhuman practices like amniocentesis decide who liveth and who doesnt inside the womb… and you are upholding Indian Family?
I do not approve nor disapprove of the action. Who are we to pass judgements while it is some of us who are smirking at her action and some of us who are wondering why she did not wear a matching lingerie or a lace underwear?
