So Slumdog Millionaire has achieved a wondrous feat..nominations in 10 categories by the piously revered Oscar jury and won 7 (updated)! What a celebration of misery.
That India, specifically Mumbai has been portrayed belly up, replete with gamines bathed in poo, eyes gorged out by devilish beggar mafia, frenetic religion dominated outbreaks and filth, shot through hidden cameras, as revealed by Danny Boyle himself, is but a miniscule detail. Dont be silly ..stop fretting! We ought to kick our feet, jump sky high in utter glee now that India has been finally acknowledged by the divine Oscars as a country that is deserved of existing on the cinematic global map…

Srk and sex sell in India..true. RNBDJ a glaring example of the formers star value , the latter pervades every avenue of marketing. What is the sine qua non for global success..Indias poverty. Ask Mira Nair (nothing personal…she is one of the most talented Directors of Indian origin..read review of Namesake) Now Slumdog millionaire. Oh I know the snort that greets such averments by the liberal brigade who are stridently invading every media channel proclaiming, democracy, freedom of expression, truth-portrayed and all of that. Its raining money on three Indian women Vanisha Mittal daughter of Lakshmi Mittal, Isha Ambani daughter of Mukesh Ambani and Pia Singh daughter of K.P.Singh are the top three on the Forbes list of worlds wealthiest inheritors! That they happen to be women is only a happy coincidence..or is it pre ordained? Bravo to the fathers who discarded all bias of sons vs daughters thereby morally, legally, ethically proving a glaring point. On a lighter note..”kudiyon ka hai zamaana”..
An aside.. will this prove to be a deterrent for the female infanticide obsessed India ? Am I jumping the gun here in hoping that perhaps this is a sign from the Almighty to STOP this debauchery or will this have no telling on insouciant mindsets? Such Hypocrisy. While we worship Mother Goddess Lakshmi as the harbinger of wealth, prosperity, abundance, a female manifeststion as daughter or wife is reason to be aborted or charred to death. How can they imagine that the Goddess would shower here benevolence on such ignorant minds?
Breathing deeply…pause..Getting back on track.. (more…)
Never has the incipience of nemesis been proven as potently as with the inclusion of Jade Goody in this BIGG Boss season 2 with Shilpa Shetty now as Boss when not so long ago the latter faced racial attacks of the crassiest level from the former at the Big Brother counterpart where Shilpa was a mere inmate. That it helped catapult Shilpa into a league of a Superstar internationally softens the incident drastically. (more…)
I felt the urge to share with you all this fantastic power point presentation Of Vincent Van Goghs paintings set to a divine melody..have your speakers on.
I confess I can hardly term myself a connoisseur in the world of Art but VVGs paintings move me beyond words. I suspect it has to do with having read his autobiography ‘ Lust For Life’. It is a book which provides such touching insights into the life and times of VVG. An artist whose works of Art are treasured as a national heritage and sold for millions of dollars committed suicide due to rejection and poverty. (more…)
Prahlad Jani who prefers to a called ‘Mataji’..notice the red sindoor in his hair parting, tikka, ornaments and red clothes,
Watched awestruck the unfolding of a story on IBN live yesterday that informed about the presence of a Yogi in Gujarat , Prahlad Jani, who claims to have not eaten a morsel of food or drunk a sip of water since the last 70 years.
It came as no surprise though. Mention of such ‘miracle men’ in the ‘Autobiography Of A Yogi” helped. (more…)
