The author of this blog has never felt as confounded, non-plussed, flummoxed , than now, on seeing this blank page with a single word ‘About’ staring back from the title box, despite having passionately written over two hundred posts in Sachiniti. How does it matter really if, that which it is ‘about’ is left ambiguous, indistinct, unperceived, inexplicit! After all, a name is as if, written on water, to be eventually washed away, leaving no trace of having existed.
So read on.. enjoy that which resonates with your experience, ignore that which leaves you unmoved, cherish that which makes you think.
For, after all, life is only an answer to that which the mind has queried!
The image of the fish and bowls can conjure up a myriad meanings to as many minds. To me it interpreted as :
Fearlessness – in pursuance of one’s chosen path.
“Sachiniti” means ‘veracious principles’. It’s also a combination of the names of my children.

Hello there,
This comment is rather out of place, but here’s where it seems to fit best.
I won’t belabor the point of me liking your style of writing; if it isn’t too much of a hitch, I’d really like it if you could muster some advice on it. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to write the last word of my first book, but for the immediate objective, I need to do well in Analytical Writing Assessment section of the GRE–it shouldn’t be long before the scorers see the pointless absurdity of my writing.
I’m on Yahoo! messenger as “endorphis”; alternatively, you could send me a few links you deem appropriate, or send me whatever the hell you like. Also, you could simply ignore the plea, and delete this “comment”?
Thanks!

Hey Kaveeta!
I am a regular at Sachiniti and identify with it in ways more than one…! 🙂
I have a health related question & hope u’ll b able to address it with all ur ayurveda, yoga, et al knowledge…. 🙂
My body is warmer than others’. My eyes burn & water and soles & palms are tired most of the day! What are the dos & donts for reducin body-heat? The foods, drinks, eneral dos, etc?
Thanks!
Comment by Me here — January 27, 2007 @ 4:59 am |
Hi Me Here,
Ummm.Am not an ayurveda know -all. But can give you a few tips.
*First thing in the morning, have a glass of water with lime…followed by a glass of’lauki'( gourd) juice, to which you can add ground roasted ‘jeera’ or cummin seeds. It has a cooling tendency. You will feel its benefits in a week or so.
*Avoid meat and eggs for a while, as well as garlic. Concentrate on freshly cooked, easily assimilated vegeatbles and fruits. Avoid breads, and flour products.
*Increase your intake of water to atleast 8 glasses a day.
* Pranayamas, or breathing exercises, especially ‘Kapal bhatti’ and ‘anulom vilom’ will be extremely beneficial. If you can get hold of Baba Ramdevs cd’s, it will help in explaining the procedure.
*Try and read up some books on acupressure, then pressure points of the soles and hands, five minutes a day if methodically worked on, create balance of the ‘doshas’ in the body. You will find that certain points in your hand pain on pressing, around the centre of hand probably. Press and release to the count of ten.
* Eye drops made of rose water and honey, or ‘Cineraria maritima succus’, a homeopathic concoction, is efficacious for cooling eyes.
*Wheat grass juice, or chewing on the grass is ofcourse the panacea for all ills.
Hope it will be of help..All the Best!

Hi Me Here,
I notice that like me, you belong to the miniscule class of those who are in favour of Ms. Rai. You only have to read my ‘Guru’ Review to see how hard I have to battle for proving her talent. few seem to agree on her histrionics.
Comment by kaveetaakaul — February 14, 2007 @ 11:36 am |
Oh yeah… may be! But then I admire her personality on the whole.
The facts that she was an ‘A’ student despite being distractingly gorgeous, she is humble enough to attribute all her success to God’s blessings, her answers are smart even to silly questions, her stance on sensitive & unpleasant issues is almost always positive, she carries herself in society & reacts to uneasy situations in a dignified manner, etc just keep me enthralled! 🙂
This damsel unlike others of her genre has not “wasted” her gifts with an incorrect attitude. Hats off to her! A lady of her kind is made only once in a century, methinks…. 🙂

Hi!
I am in a loving, happy relationship but now that time has come to take our relationship forward towards marriage my boyfriend does not seem ready and seems to be getting cold feet. is there anything i can do to ease his mind and give him the confidence to take the next step.
Comment by anonymous — April 9, 2007 @ 1:05 pm |
Hi anonymous,
Taking your relationship forward into marriage should ideally be a decision taken by both in all seriousness. As you realise, its not just about getting married but sustaining it, nurturing and guarding it along a path not often strewn with roses. Therefore if one of the partners has been coaxed/cajoled into marriage, resentment is bound to create upheavals.
Talk it over with him..your concerns, his concerns, your understanding of the institution of marriage. Communication is key here. To be able to gage the reasons for his ‘cold feet’ a friendly, no-hassle air between the two of you will help.
In the absence of details to do with age, career etc, all one can say is that you have to be guided by instinct and intuition to know whether he is leading you up the garden path with no commitment in mind..or is it just a matter of being nervy. Tread carefully. We invest a lot of ourselves in relationships sometimes unmindful of the other’s intentions. Don’t allow yourself to be taken for a ride.
If you like you can place a red lamp and some roses in the South West of your living room.
All the best and God Bless!

I really liked the article on Aamir and Faisal.I can understand why judge passed the verdict of giving custody to Tahir,i hope father lives upto being one and takes care of his ill son.One feels sad for aamir who wanted to do well . I just hope media doent go after him, trying to settle scores for his being unfriendly to them.
Don’t know if you came across this article of Government in Chand Africa having arrested 9 french women who as per them were being smuggled out to Europe. As per women they clainm that they were rescued/migrated from the trouble spot of dafur. they claim all they wanted to do was get them attched to europen families who could take care of them. if one looks at the pics of these girls, one is forced to believe their story.
I am narrating this story to you to just point out that there have been number of cases where good intentions of individuals have ended up paining them.offcourse i am assuming the story told by frech giorls to be true.
I came acoss your site following aamirs story, but then few of ur other articles.this site sure will be part of my fav,
cheers and keep writing.

Hi Ashu,
Welcome and thanks for your kind words.
Sorry to read about the deplorable act involving the girls. I guess we have to simply do our bit with sincerity and dedicatedly. There is a plan in store for each one of us. We have to believe in it without worrying on whether or not we will reap the fruits . Aamir has done his best..its amply clear. In a world where siblings often disown conveniently, he has chosen instead to stand by his brother. Truth will prevail. As our sages say ‘ Satyamev jayate’.
Cheers 🙂

Hello Kaveeta, You have an amazing blog. Its funny, its insightful, its honest and it really is very engaging. I found it searching for the keyword “Shiva Lingam”. I had to understand it as I stood in a temple near Chicago, pouring water over it… Ironically, coincidently, or whatever relevant word you may want to put here – I am a transformed yogi. I learn’t yoga as a child, but then left it behind in India and now rediscovered it through the yoga of BKS Iyengar. My holistic transformation started in Mumbai and Pune. What kind of yoga do you practice. I write a blog as well… on my transformation with yoga – theyoginme.blogspot.com. Keep up this great writing… I will be a regular I know.
Namaste
Comment by The Yogi — August 26, 2008 @ 3:09 am |
Thanks Yogi..you are such an agreeable person..This moniker is bestowed on the special few who agree with me :)Kidding…actually you made my day.
Yes..yoga has a way of finding you even if you ignore it. I guess it has to do with genetic coding..from previous births. I have done my teachers training from the Yoga Institute at Santacruz which was rather holistic in its syllabus. Patanjalis sutras were taught discussed and analysed which to me has been the reason i so treasure my yoga learning days.. it took us beyond the realm of the physical or rather co related the mind with the body which in effect is what yoga is.. the union between the mental and physical or Nature and man or Man and God however you wish to look at it.
BKS Iyengar is quite an institution by himself..we will compare notes..and a warm welcome:)
Comment by Kaveetaa Kaul — August 26, 2008 @ 8:42 am |
I think the genetic coding of yoga expands out into the shared memory space (computer terminology)- us yogis are connected. What a coincidence… I love Santa Cruz – the market, the food, the juices, the chaos….It has a connection to my rediscovery of yoga. I am still learning about the Sutras. I am reading Mr. Iyengar’s interpretation on it. I read his “Light on Life” book as if it was a bible….he is so good in taking the Sutras and applying universal meanining and understanding to it. I have been to his institute in Pune three times now. My biggest lesson has been the practice of detachment and it has calmed me down a few notches, though with any “ying” there is a “yang”. With the calmness I have had to face tremendous destruction. I wondered how someone could face a train wreck or an earthquake calmly. Now I know…. I look forward to more interactions. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Dear Rajesh,
At the time of writing this blog I was so overwhelmed by the loss of my mother that the need to purge it out overpowered me or else I thought Id collapse under the emotion. I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart that you sensed the pangs and it resonated with you. Its strange isnt it how words which are but embodiments of energy find reciprocity in complete strangers. Only goes to prove that underneath it all we are but the same , bound by a single thread of understanding and empathy.
May God bless you and yours with peace, abundance and joy.
